MAY 2026 – Güngör Zeytin Gıda Ambalaj Tic. San. AŞ.: Transforming Pickled Food

Güngör Zeytin Gıda Ambalaj, a family-owned company based in Bursa, Turkey, has deep roots in olive and pickle production. For years, the company relied on traditional tin packaging for its extensive range of pickled food products, including olives and vegetables in large formats. Tin containers presented multiple operational challenges: high material and logistics costs, heavy weight impacting transport efficiency, susceptibility to denting and corrosion, and limited design flexibility that hindered product differentiation in a competitive market. These issues drove up overall packaging expenses and constrained stacking and storage optimization during distribution.

Seeking a more sustainable and cost-effective solution, Güngör invested in two CYPET K Series singlestage injection stretch blow molding machines. The machines enabled in-house production of custom 10L and 13.5L PET stackable jars with integrated handle recess. This shift delivered immediate and substantial benefits. Packaging costs dropped, according to Gungor themselves, by 44% driven by significantly lighter containers, optimized preform-to-bottle design for minimal material use, and low energy consumption of just 0.31 kWh/kg. The PET jerrycans were engineered for robust stackability — up to 4 layers high on pallets — maximizing transport and warehouse efficiency while maintaining excellent product protection and food-grade safety

Beyond cost savings, the new PET packaging enhanced Güngör’s brand image as an innovator. The glossy, ergonomic design with separate clip on handle improved user experience for both retail and industrial customers, allowing easier handling and potential secondary use. This unique packaging helped Güngör stand out in the market, strengthening customer loyalty and supporting market share growth. The company continues to expand its product portfolio with additional molds on the CYPET machines, demonstrating the equipment’s flexibility for small-batch, multi-format production.

“We have been using your large PET blow molding machines for several years now and are very satisfied with their performance.” – Güngör, Turkey

The partnership with CYPET has included ongoing technical support, spare parts, and mold additions, ensuring high uptime and adaptability. By switching to CYPET-enabled PET packaging, Güngör not only reduced costs and environmental impact but also positioned itself as a forward-thinking leader in sustainable food packaging within Turkey’s olive and pickle sector. This success story underscores the value of CYPET’s technology for food producers looking to innovate while controlling operating expenses.
