CYPET Technologies, has proudly expanded the reach of PET injection stretch blow molding technology, by successfully producing the world’s first 1000-liter Intermediate Bulk Containers (IBCs) made from PET plastic. Building on its prior success in blow molding 1000L water tanks from PET, this milestone marks a significant advancement in industrial packaging, enabling lighter, more sustainable alternatives to traditional HDPE IBCs.
The new PET IBCs offer numerous benefits over conventional materials, including substantial weight reduction—typically 8-9 kg per container compared to 12-15 kg for HDPE—leading to lower raw material consumption,
lower transportation costs and easier handling. Other advantages include enhanced barrier properties, stress crack resistance, and gas impermeability, making PET suitable for a wide range of contents that may not be compatible with HDPE. The injection-molded neck finish ensures precise, leak-proof closures and valve fittings, with the option for transparent designs to improve product visibility.

These PET IBCs can already serve applications that have been typically served by used IBCs. Looking ahead, CYPET Technologies aims to continue testing and developing the PET IBCs to achieve UN certification, to allow
universal global usage of the bottles.
We are optimistic that this innovation will deliver compelling economic savings through reduced material and energy costs, while advancing sustainability globally.
